How to track adoption of my ads.txt?
You can check the actual status of your ads.txt lines directly in our Dashboard. In the upper right corner next to your user name you will see a red dot indicating if a line item is missing:
Clicking on “ads.txt” will open up a new window that will show all Outbrain relevant ads.txt line items. Generally speaking we have two different variants that provide native ads:
- DIRECT: this is the most important line item that indicates that you have a direct relationship with Outbrain that allows us to bid on your inventory with our direct demand.
- RESELLER: we work with trusted partners in the ecosystem like Xandr, AppNexus, Yahoo and others to allow them bidding on your inventory to generate the highest RPM possible. Since you do not have a direct relationship with those buyers, they are listed as RESELLER in the ads.txt.
If you use video advertisements on your page, you would want to include all relevant line items as well. Depending on the type of integration you either use Outstream, Instream or both and you can differentiate them in the ads.txt file easily:
- # Premium video demand from Outbrain – a line item with this comment is relevant for OUTSTREAM video demand only
- #instream video by outbrain – a line item with this comment is relevant for INSTREAM video demand only
The lines in the ads.txt that are shown in bold are the lines that are missing, the ones not in bold are already included in the file.
To maximize your revenue potential you would want to add all line items that are relevant – and you should revisit the ads.txt area from time to time to make sure that you do not miss out on newly added lines.
