How to create an Audience Campaign?
Creating a new campaign can be done by clicking on “Create New Campaign” at the top right hand side of the “Campaigns” menu within the Audience Campaigns section accessed on the left hand side Dashboard navigation bar.
Step 1: pick your content
Campaign name – Create a name for your campaign. TIP: consider an internal naming convention if multiple users will be creating and monitoring campaigns
Campaign sites – Goal campaigns only – Decide if you wish to run the campaign on a single site only or on several sites if you manage a Publisher Group.
Add urls – Copy and paste in the urls you would like to run within the campaign. Alternatively click into the “add RSS feed” radio button. Using a feed will ensure all new content added to the RSS are automatically added to the live campaign. Don’t forget to click “add” to ensure they are added to the campaign. A preview of all ads will appear.
Important: aim to include a very minimum of 5 articles within a campaign, this provides the tool with different options to serve & increase the chances of the campaign to deliver.
Create variations – In order to give your campaign the best chance of hitting its delivery target try uploading alternative images and headline variants for the same URL.
Enter the alternative headlines and/or image urls you would like to use.
The variations option will automatically generate different combinations of the headlines and images provided. e.g headline 1 with image A, headline 1 with image B, Headline 2 with image A etc.
Step 2: set campaigns details
Campaign type :
Where would you like this campaign to appear on your site? Provides options to run the campaign across all Outbrain placements or alternatively only on specific widgets.
Run campaign on every instance of these widgets? Allows the campaign to be delivered within a certain section or across all sections of your sites.
Label widgets content items that are running in this campaign? A custom label may be added. This will appear within Outbrain placements on the link level after the headline & source name of the ad. This can be used to label content as sponsored or paid if you are including commercial content in the campaign.
Do you have a Tracking Code you would like to add? Copy and paste the UTM tracking url/codes that you would like to use. These parameters allow our partners to precisely monitor their Audience Campaigns performances in their own analytic systems and to optimize accordingly. The list of the supported dynamic parameters can be found here.
Please note this can be tested by entering a sample URL. The dynamic parameters are not replaced with values on the test.
Step 3 : varies according to the campaign type
Goal campaign: Set Your Dates & Goal
- Amount of time your campaign will run – Select dates using the calendar icon. Allow a minimum of 7 days.
- Select goal type – You can choose between Clicks or Impressions (number of times the campaign will appear within an Outbrain placement).
A reach estimator is provided with an estimate of goal volume based upon your average last 14 day site traffic, parameters you have applied, typical performance within your Outbrain placements and insight from delivery of other similar campaigns.
Always-on campaign: Set Your Dates & Click Value
