How do I update my ads.txt file?
It’s important to keep your ads.txt file up to date to ensure that you are only selling your inventory through authorized partners.
To update your ads.txt file, follow these steps:
- Log in to your website’s content management system (CMS) or hosting account.
- Navigate to the root directory of your website.
- Locate the ads.txt file in the root directory. If you don’t have an ads.txt file, you can create one using a text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit.
- Open the ads.txt file and add a line for each advertising partner that you authorize to sell your inventory. Each line should include the following information:
- The domain name of the advertising partner
- Your publisher ID or account ID with the advertising partner
- The type of relationship you have with the advertising partner (direct or reseller)
Here’s an example of what a line in your ads.txt file might look like: example.com, 12345, DIRECT
- Save the changes to your ads.txt file.
- Verify that your updated ads.txt file is accessible by visiting your website’s URL followed by “/ads.txt” (e.g. www.example.com/ads.txt).
