Goal Recommendation

The goal recommendation tool is the reach estimator for goal campaigns.
The goal recommendation calculates the available organic traffic for the campaign, taking into account the following factors:

  • Organic traffic for the targeted audience (widgets, sections, geo location and segments) based on traffic from the last 3 weeks
  • Performance of past and existing campaigns
  • How many competing campaigns are targeting the same audience in the same timeframe
  • Settings (slot limitation and excluded widgets)

The goal recommendation results appear on a bar, indicating what the system considers as recommended goal based on the calculations above.

When the desired goal for the campaign is outside the bar, it means that the system believes there isn’t enough inventory to fulfill the goal.

In such cases the user has 5 options:

  1. Reduce goal
  2. Expand targeted audience
  3. Extend campaign duration
  4. Pause competing campaigns
  5. Move from clicks to impressions goal when applicable

If the above options didn’t help, it might indicate that the publisher doesn’t have enough traffic to run goal campaigns on the site. In such cases, please reach out to your Outbrain representative to find out about other options that may exist.
